Poi

These are a set of sock poi, basically a pair of punk/rocker/emo knee high socks with approximately 10-20 grams of rice loose in the ends with the tops of the socks stitched closed to prevent rice loss.
You would use these poi to practice and/or learn how to do fire poi. Fire poi being the same thing but with chains and a Kevlar wick, which you dunk in paraffin then set alight and spin. to find a much better explanation go to www.homeofpoi.com .

Anyways what I plan to do with this page is put pretty pictures of poi, people doing poi and fire spinning. Starting with a few of myself and friends. There may even be movie clips... I have to put a small note in here saying thank you to Sunbird for inspiring me to go to Edinburgh after a sleep-debt night and start learning poi in the gardens just off of waverly. Oh, and if anyone wants to come and learn or see people doing poi, check out the meadows in Edinburgh, monday nights from dusk, off of the middle walk way. They don’t bite, unless asked nicely :D.

Hand-made, by myself, LED squishy tentacle poi!! So, I got a little creative, they are pretty but only have short flash sequence. I’m going to have to buy good LED poi but these happy little things will keep me entertained for now, even if they do keep breaking and flying off...

Fire poi, not me doing it but people from the meadows on a monday night... A wonderfully fun group! Pitty I’m too shy to talk to most of them lol... Although I know a few now :D

Here he is the man himself, who got me into poi, Sunbird. Who after speaking to me for a couple of hours offered to teach (a very sleep debt) me how to use sock poi... and so, since that day, I’ve been addicted to everything poi... but of course my passion for fire and pyrotechnics came well before that! :D Corrupted from a young age :D
