After one sleep debt night of speaking to a sweet hippy I decided to go to edinburgh on no sleep and learn the art of poi.
Poi is basically a ball attached to a piece of string that you swing, this form is usually used to practice before moving onto fire poi, where the balls become kevlar wicks soaked in paraffin and set alight attached to metal chains. The first photograph above “Poi and I 2006” (taken by photographer friend James), that’s me spinning ribbon poi, very pretty. Unfortunately, due to medical reasons I have not yet been able to progress but hopefully soon I will.
My last but not least hobby is amateur photography. A friend once took the time to show me how a camera should be used, i.e how to set it up to take a focused, white balanced and situation appropriate picture.
After this I found myself applying the skills I gained from my artwork, (i.e composition, meaning and aesthetics) to the photograph I was about to take and then in review of the photograph, I was pleased with the results.
Ever since that moment I have been learning more and more about camera’s and the art of photography. There will be new pages appearing from time to time upon the website, with new photographs... if you wish to contact me about any of the artwork upon this website feel free to e-mail me at kit@kitspace.co.uk .
